Simon and Tim had far too much time on their hands, and oodles of experience in library, or mood, né production music, as you may well know. So they spent some time looking at the business from the touchline rather than on the field, and came to one simple conclusion... there’s too damned much of it out there these days!
So, rather than contribute further to the mêlé, they decided to try to create a home for a bunch of independent libraries, find the best tracks from them all, and present them to you, our dear client, in gorgeous, bite sized, digestible little pieces which appeal to your palette [sic.]
Hence, we offer you Repertoire. Independent production music libraries, cajoled, pushed, pulled and downright squeezed into logical form online, offline and in her lady’s chamber to boot.
Do you want CDs still? That’s cool. Audio files on a hard drive? No problem. Web based search and download system? On its way. Let’s just stop talking about the formats and get back to putting some quality music into some decent programmes.
We want to find the right tracks for you, so please give us a yell.
Simon James spent many years working with Music House, which merged into KPM in the late nineties. A familiar meedya gadabout, Simon took up a role with Zomba, subsequently BMGZomba in 2002, only to later return to EMI (KPM’s parent) to run the groundbreaking PLAY online music search system up until 2007.
Tim Hardy on the other hand was synonymous with KPM Music as General Manager over countless years. He has travelled far and wide in his search for good production music and a decent drink. He now professes to be
deliriously happy to be working back in his spiritual home in Dean Street, Soho – specifically Repertoire HQ.
