Hi and Welcome to Repertoire
Hi.
We’ve just started out this year, working on bringing together a fab and functional collection of new music for sync use. We’re proud to be already presenting you with 8 catalogues from the UK to the USA, giving us a broad selection of musical styles, whatever the brief.

We aim to give you non clichéd ideas within the hour of the brief. So ask us for ideas – no obligation.

Cheers
Simon and Tim

Title About Us
Simon and Tim had far too much time on their hands, and oodles of experience in library, or mood, né production music, as you may well know. So they spent some time looking at the business from the touchline rather than on the field, and came to one simple conclusion... there’s too damned much of it out there these days!

So, rather than contribute further to the mêlé, they decided to try to create a home for a bunch of independent libraries, find the best tracks from them all, and present them to you, our dear client, in gorgeous, bite sized, digestible little pieces which appeal to your palette [sic.]

Hence, we offer you Repertoire. Independent production music libraries, cajoled, pushed, pulled and downright squeezed into logical form online, offline and in her lady’s chamber to boot.

Do you want CDs still? That’s cool. Audio files on a hard drive? No problem. Web based search and download system? On its way. Let’s just stop talking about the formats and get back to putting some quality music into some decent programmes.

We want to find the right tracks for you, so please give us a yell.
Title Our Players
Simon James spent many years working with Music House, which merged into KPM in the late nineties. A familiar meedya gadabout, Simon took up a role with Zomba, subsequently BMGZomba in 2002, only to later return to EMI (KPM’s parent) to run the groundbreaking PLAY online music search system up until 2007.

Tim Hardy on the other hand was synonymous with KPM Music as General Manager over countless years. He has travelled far and wide in his search for good production music and a decent drink. He now professes to be deliriously happy to be working back in his spiritual home in Dean Street, Soho – specifically Repertoire HQ.

Many TV productions are licensed under existing MCPS blanket schemes which cover the use of production music. These have been pre-negotiated by major broadcasters and often include arrangements for clearing secondary use (programme sales, internet and DVD).

Independent production companies may have existing IPC blanket licences with MCPS which facilitate use of all Repertoire music.

Are you an editor, producer, media person who needs music?

Repertoire knows all the music on its independent labels. We can direct you to your track – pretty smartish and at no cost.

You just tell us what you want and we suggest tracks, compile bespoke CDs, USB memory sticks etc.

Once you’ve chosen which tracks to go with… we can help with licensing and admin…

Job Done. (Well – if only life was really that simple)

We want to ensure that you can find and licence whatever music you require - speedily and painlessly. It should be one of life’s more enjoyable experiences.

Both Simon and Tim have many years of experience in finding appropriate music for every possible scenario. Don’t hesitate to call us with a music brief and we will move heaven and earth to come up with the perfect fit.
Title We Provide
Bespoke CDs We will compile tracks chosen especially for your production. Let us feed you some carefully selected music and you can use what you like.

Delivery in Digital formats Repertoire ftp site, DVDs, USB memory sticks and larger portable drives, CDs*.

Although technology will never replace human brainpower (even ours) - we are working hard to provide a creative search system on the Repertoire FINDER online service with its matching portable drives. This allows you the luxury of perusing the catalogues - and finding that perfect track – whilst not straying from the comfort of your own desktop.

*CD delivery is still available on a number of our catalogues. We are happy to supply CDs if that is your format of choice. Repertoire has an environment friendly policy and we will endeavour to only send CDs when and where required.
Title Musicians Composers
As champions of the professional musician and supporters of many friends who attempt to earn their living in an increasingly difficult and fickle market, we absolutely support and uphold the principals of copyright and seek to license our charges' lifeswork in the proper way.

Some companies seek to exploit those artists by buying out their royalty income stream for paltry sums, and selling it to you at ludicrously knock down rates. We believe this undervalues the service composers provide, and ultimately threatens the viability of composition for media as a career choice.

The upside of using such sources is usually the simplicity of licensing, often at the expense of creative choice, and we are working with MCPS/PRS to simplify our licensing procedures.

We recognise that recording studios are often akin to the sweat shops of the third world by way of filth and squalour, but we intend to no more exploit those who work in them than we would hire 6 year old children to elasticise our underpants.

So join with us and support fair trade for composers.
Titles Nordoff Robbins
We are all music lovers, but for very few of us does music bring as much pleasure and respite as for people struggling with disabilities or suffering serious illness.

As the largest provider of music therapy in the UK, Nordoff-Robbins promotes communication, confidence and well-being through creative expression in active music-making, assisting children and adults whose days are much less privileged than those of us working in media.

It is a charity close to our hearts, and one which we support and hope to help and contribute to as we grow our business.

Titles Environment
There is a lot of use of plastics, shipping, paper and a certain amount of regrettable waste arises in the conduct of our business. As we increasingly use digital supply chains this will reduce, and we urge our clients to move on from compact discs as soon as is practicable.

Meanwhile, to help offset the environmental impact of importing and distributing our CDs, we calculate the Co2 emissions using www.climatecare.org and offset them accordingly. Climate Care in turn invests the money in a variety of global Co2 reduction Projects.
